Are you cliterate?

September 24, 2013

Not much time this morning for blogging, but I wanted everyone to get a chance to read this amazing Huffington Post article about learning more than you ever thought possible about the female sexual organ, and then celebrating that knowledge in style.

The article is actually more inspiring than you’d think, and I found myself weeping with joy at times. I’m an easy cry, but still.

Plus, any article that has this picture is worth reading:

I applaud Wallace for educating otherwise ignorant women about their own sexual organs. Why this isn’t covered in most sex-ed courses is beyond me.

as a guy, I think it’s important for other guys to know about the clitoris. But it think it’s even more important for guys to know what to do with it, and I think that Sophia Wallace largely ignores that.

I didn’t feel shamed when I read this article a couple of weeks ago, but I know a lot of guys who were. I think that comes from the expectations men have when it comes to sex. We’re expected to be gods in the sack, not through experience, but through sheer talent. I hope that Wallace’s shaming gets men to communicate with their partners about what they like and what they don’t like. I think this, in addition to informing women about their sexual organs, is what Wallace had in mind. But I think that a lot of men will feel even worse about their ignorance of the clitoris, and will turn that shame into resentment rather than a drive to understand their partner’s anatomy.
