Back in early October, the OWS anti-co-optation group was about to issue a rhetorically grandiose, sophomoric statement that I thought would embarrass the movement. That’s when I got vocal on the listserv. In the end, we tossed the rhetoric and pared the statement down to a clear, brief, strong statement. When it was finally presented to the GA, a couple of small objections stalled it.
Maybe if we’d kept the rhetorical excess it would have passed the GA in a rush of cheers. But I felt, and still believe, it’s perfectly okay for OWS not to have written statements, and should issue only strategically well-crafted material in writing.
That’s what I found so gratifying in your presentation on Frontline, Cathy. It made OWS look smart, professional and incisive, not bush-league or naive.

Thank you! It’s my opinion that everyone in OWS has to do it their own way, and we go about it in a million ways, which is a good thing, because we are trying to reach a million people (at a time).
