    Ms O’Neil,
I fully agree on both of the items. I have found that no matter the methodology, people seem to only find what they look for. This seems obvious, but we each have “filters” or “blinders” to what we are not interested in – even if it’s the 100% certain, factual truth.
I don’t know how we can get rid of the bias. It seems to me that some combination of algorithm and humanity could help but in the crazy world we have now, everyone’s opinion is everyone else’s lie.
    Keep up the great work!

There is no such thing as an “objective algorithm” when it comes to human judgements.

Saying there is is no different from claiming there is such a thing as an “objective opinion”.

Even algorithms meant to model physical processes involve assumptions/biases about the way the world works, assumptions that could turn out to be partly or even completely wrong.

The only truly “objective” algorithms are ones that are purely mathematical and deal with “objects”, eg, an algorithm to sort integers from least to greatest.
