Hi Dr. O’Neil,

I just read an article on CNN’s website describing your book and its main thesis. The CNN article tries to make it sound like mathematics itself and/or its application in “Big Data” is somehow racist. I have not read your book, but could only conclude that CNN misrepresented its thesis in their article. I am writing to encourage you to contact them and ask them to try to be more accurate. My fear is that your worthy ideas and observations will be ignored because CNN (and possibly other media) misrepresent them. Given the current state of our culture, a large number of readers will conclude that either mathematics is racist or that you have anthropomorphized mathematics as a racist entity. Not cool.
