Climate Convergence march on Sunday
September 19, 2014
This Sunday there’ll be a huge march to raise awareness about climate change. It’s called the Climate Convergence, and the Alternative Banking group is going to be there.
If you want to join us, come to 79th and Central Park West at 11am, in front of the Natural History Museum. We will have signs and a banner. See you there, I hope!

I was hoping the march would be to raise awareness that there are no convergence studies for climate models. Fund Climate Convergence!

The one big ask for the People’s Climate March was “100% Clean Energy by 2050.” Beyond that the PCM was very much like Occupy in it’s lack of specificity.
I see that as a good thing. Hopefully, we’ve established a clear concept that will work its way into all discussions on society, science, politics and policy just as the signal cry of “The 1 Per Cent” has become generally accepted as a descriptor of the cause of our present and impending woes.
Both memes (the the Dawkins sense) are necessary for us to move toward some level of sanity in the marshalling of our wealth and resources, just as both are so simple as to appear almost meaningless on closer inspection.
Both have galvanized opinion and a general attitude that breaks through the manufactured consensus that the old ways are good enough to solve all our present problems.
Wish I could have been in NYC, but the doughty band of 3,000 citizens (we anticipated 500) that assembled in front of our City Hall here in Toronto gives me hope that change is afoot even here in the country that brought you the tar sands.
