If you are in Canada, or if you can figure out how to stream CBC Radio 1 online, then you can hear me talk #Occupy Wall Street stuff this morning at 8:30am Eastern time on their show The Current.
update: there’s a recording of the interview here. I was on with David Sauvage, a very cool man who created this commercial.
Categories: #OWS

Cathy, I heard you and David Sauvage on The Current just now. Great work! I’m a writer, researcher, film and television teacher at Ryerson University in Toronto, and former media publicist with my own business. I was involved in some fringe financial endeavours ten years ago, trying to change things. If either of you needs any help at all from my skillset, please let me know. I want to be involved!

I listened to the interview, thank you for being on the show. Inspiring to hear about the continuation of actions and learning at OWS. I am part of a local Occupy movement here in Canada; it is encouraging to hear of what other Occupies are doing.
Here is the link for The Current, though they haven’t uploaded the segment about OWS yet. Keep watching for it under the January 9 date: http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/

Cathy,
Thank you for providing your insight, intellect and personal involvement. It seems like there may be an honest person out there after all!
Your interview for me was both refreshing and eye opening. Until today, like many people, I learned only from what I viewed on my television and have never formed my own opinion because I feel “I’m just an ordinary person…how can I or anyone for that matter possibly form an opinion on such a complex matter requiring so much information and interpretation?”. I feel like you are in a better position than most people and for this I hope you obtain a large following and or accomplish great things. For most people, quitting their job is a big decision that will have many possible effects and can come with lots of stress. I don’t know what your personal position on those matters are but putting your morals in front of your job in any position takes a…good person to do.
I also felt relieved that there is actually someone on the inside trying to make a difference based on simply… doing the right thing! Rather than ignoring the bad news in the world, for the first time in my life, I find myself posting a comment to you at 3:52AM in the hopes you may read my mail and somehow feel a little inspired that you’ve opened the eyes of someone who previously ignored all the wrongs going on in the world and that I really thought about every word you said during your interview.
“dumb and smart money” all I have to say is….unbelievable and staggering! I hope more people listen to that podcast. It was very powerful for me to hear your personal experience and I listened to it serval times over.
And like many people out there, I don’t have a PHD, masters degree, or even a college degree for that matter but I do like to think my street smarts and common sense have helped me to avoid the economic crisis the world seems to be in. My family is safe and content. However, I also understand there are many more people that are not so fortunate and I feel extremely sympathetic for them as I could not imagine having my own family in harms way.
In my opinion it is the majority of our society that will rely on people like you Cathy to “do the right thing” as the majority of people will not be in a position to do it for themselves or will not have the “moral connect” that will guide them in making the right decisions that could otherwise effect others. Unfortunately with dumb money there must also be more dumb people to feed them and there will always be predators of the like hunting them down.
Good luck with your efforts Cathy, the world is a better place with people like you in it.
…Average Joe
